Kicking off the blog

in: Startups

For a while now, Rednod’s site has been embarrassingly, reliably static. Simple text explaining what we do in plain English. Which is important, because one of the things we try to do is explain complex things in plain terms.

But as fate, and the reliability of a bargain-bin managed hosting provider, would have it, that site is long gone. In its place is this, a blog and a bit of background.

Rednod is focused on accelerating startups. We think that successful companies do three things better than their competitors:

  • Anticipate market trends and changes. Then they avoid the bad changes and capitalize on the good opportunities.
  • Create superb products. This takes a combination of deep understanding of their customers’ needs, clever twists that meet those needs, and old-fashioned sweat to pull it off before it becomes obvious to everyone else.
  • Communicate clearly and succinctly. This means explaining to your audience and its pundits how you solve a problem better than ever before. It’s always difficult to do this, particularly when you’ve been waist-deep in the product for a year. It’s what Made to Stick calls “The Curse of Knowledge.”

Since we launched Rednod early this year, we’ve worked with roughly a dozen startups across North America and Europe. We can’t tell you much about them, for confidentiality reasons. But we’re seeing the results of those efforts every day, in the form of better focus, clearer product strategies, and simple, sticky messaging.

On this blog, we’re going to share some of the observations and ideas that inspire us, and that we share with those clients. If you’d like to learn more about what we do, please contact us directly.
